The Foreign Ministry announced that Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (formerly Burma), will pay an official visit to Cambodia from April 29 to May 1.
As stated in Friday’s (April 26) press release, she will have separate audiences with King Norodom Sihamoni and the queen-mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk at the Royal Palace.
Courtesy calls on Say Chhum, president of the Senate, and Heng Samrin, president of the National Assembly are also planned, as are bilateral talks with Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Ms Suu Kyi will lay wreaths at the Independence Monument and at the monument of the King-Father, and to top off her visit she will go to see the temples in Siem Reap province.
Her official visit to Cambodia will strengthen and expand the bilateral bonds of friendship and cooperation, as well as those within the ASEAN framework.
Hun Sen said on Tuesday that Ms Suu Kyi, who is also Myanmar’s Foreign Affairs Minister, will fly directly to Phnom Penh from Beijing, after attending the Belt and Road Forum in China.
