Indonesian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanif Salim, thanked the HUFO and VIFA for their sentiments, while expressing his delight at the similarities in culture and the history of national liberation between the two countries.
The Consul General expressed his wish that the Indonesian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City would receive more support from HUFO in order to promote the cooperation and friendship between Indonesia and Ho Chi Minh City.
Hanif Salim pledged to make every effort to bring about benefits for the diplomatic and economic ties between the two sides for the prosperity of each country and the region as a whole.
President of the VIFA chapter in Ho Chi Minh City, Le Ton Thanh, said that Vietnam and Indonesia have gained many achievements in various areas since they upgraded their relations to a strategic partnership in June 2013.
The two countries posted two-way trade revenue of US$6.4 billion in 2017, an increase of 20% over 2016.
Thanh noted that through regular visits, exchanges of delegations and partnerships in a wide range of areas, the people of Ho Chi Minh City have gained a better understanding of the economics, culture and society of Indonesia, contributing to enhancing the bilateral relations in the future.
